:indeterminate - CSS Selector

:indeterminate pseudo-class - Description.

The pseudo-class :indeterminate refers to form elements that are in one of the following states:

• The radio buttons where none are checked in the group.
• Progress bars (progress tags) whose value attribute is missing.
• The checkboxes that have the indeterminate value.

Note that HTML alone cannot set the indeterminate value for checkboxes. You'll need a bit of Javascript code for that:

The items below are in an indeterminate state: CSS surrounds them in red. If you select one of the radio buttons or check one of the checkboxes, you'll need to refresh the page to return them to an indeterminate state.

The selector :indeterminate is well recognized by the main browsers.

Notes:

(1) On Internet Explorer, :indeterminate doesn't target radio buttons.

(2) On Opera mini, the pseudo-class :indeterminate does not target progress bars, no matter their state.
